Following concerning reports about the treatment of protesters during a demonstration at Parliament Square in New Brunswick, CCLA has written a letter to the Speaker of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly. Among other concerns, we asked the Speaker to clarify his position that the Speakers’ privilege to control access to the legislative precinct does not include the surrounding area, and that protesters have the right to gather peacefully there.
