On October 7, 2024, Shakir Rahim, Director of the Criminal Justice Program, and Harini Sivalingam, Director of the Equality Program, testified before the Senate Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs (SECD) in their study of Bill C-20, An Act establishing the Public Complaints and Review Commission.
The CCLA highlighted the urgent need to improve oversight of the RCMP and establish oversight for the CBSA, and proposed targeted amendments to Bill C-20.
