CCLA is organizing two webinars in March to discuss its challenge to Quebec’s Bill 21 before the Supreme Court of Canada. CCLA is seeking to invalidate this deeply discriminatory law, which requires certain people in Quebec to choose between their careers and their faith.
Our fight is not easy, as the Quebec government has invoked the notwithstanding clause in an attempt to shield Bill 21 from the Charter and the scrutiny of the courts. Are there limits to how governments can use the notwithstanding clause? This is the fundamental issue that the Supreme Court of Canada will have to decide.
On March 3 at 3 p.m. ET, we will host a webinar in English.
On March 4 at 12 p.m. ET, we will co-host a webinar in French with the Ligue des droits et libertés.
The registration links for each webinar are listed above. We hope you will join us for this important conversation on the content of Bill 21, its impacts, the notwithstanding clause, and the various positions that will be argued before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Thank you,
