Artificial Intelligence (AI) poses serious risks to privacy and human rights.
The Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) is one of Canada’s first attempts at regulating AI.
However, in its current form, AIDA is a disaster for privacy and human rights, and the hasty, confusing and rushed Parliamentary process around its review is a disaster for democracy and Reconciliation.
On April 25, 2024, CCLA joined a call from 60 leading civil society organizations, corporations, experts and academics to the Innovation, Science and Industry Minister, calling for AIDA to be withdrawn from Bill C-27 and given a full public consultation.
