The Canadian Civil Liberties Association made the following submissions to Standing Committee on Status of Women’s study on Hate Motivated Violence Directed at 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to express our condemnation of hate-motivated violence which targets the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, in particular trans and gender diverse people.

Our submissions focus on the power of education to mitigate hate motivated violence directed towards 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and the need to ensure that policy and legislation if based on expert evidence informed by lived experiences and that 2SLGBTQIA+ communities are consulted on policy and legislation that affects their communities.
