L'ACLC croit qu'un solide r\u00e9gime d'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'information et de protection de la vie priv\u00e9e est crucial pour une d\u00e9mocratie dynamique. Les informations sur le fonctionnement de notre gouvernement aident la population \u00e0 faire des choix \u00e9clair\u00e9s dans les urnes, \u00e0 participer de mani\u00e8re significative aux discussions politiques et \u00e0 garantir que les membres du gouvernement sont tenus responsables de leurs d\u00e9cisions. La vie priv\u00e9e, d'autre part, prot\u00e8ge une sph\u00e8re d'autonomie individuelle dans laquelle les gens ont le droit \u00ab d'\u00eatre laiss\u00e9s seuls \u00bb et dans laquelle l'\u00c9tat ne peut pas s'immiscer sans autorisation. La d\u00e9mocratie exige les deux.<\/p>\n

Une d\u00e9mocratie saine doit \u00e9quilibrer le droit d'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'information avec le droit \u00e0 la vie priv\u00e9e des individus, en trouvant un \u00e9quilibre de principe entre les deux - le point d'\u00e9quilibre o\u00f9 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9mocratique prosp\u00e8re, soutenue par les libert\u00e9s offertes par la vie priv\u00e9e individuelle.<\/p>\n

Comme d'autres lois sur la protection des renseignements personnels et l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'information au Canada, la loi de la Colombie-Britannique Loi sur l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'information et la protection de la vie priv\u00e9e<\/em> s'est \u00e9cart\u00e9 de cet \u00e9quilibre.<\/p>\n

Le Comit\u00e9 sp\u00e9cial charg\u00e9 d'examiner la Loi sur l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'information et la protection de la vie priv\u00e9e<\/em> entreprend un examen de la l\u00e9gislation sur la protection des renseignements personnels et l'acc\u00e8s au secteur public de la Colombie-Britannique. Les soumissions de l'ACLC \u00e0 l'examen mettent en \u00e9vidence certains domaines prioritaires cl\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
