TORONTO \u2013 L’Association canadienne des libert\u00e9s civiles a entam\u00e9 une proc\u00e9dure judiciaire contre le Nouveau-Brunswick au sujet de ses restrictions en mati\u00e8re d’avortement en adressant une lettre de mise en demeure.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous donnons au gouvernement l\u2019occasion d\u2019abroger ses lois qui restreignent l\u2019avortement au Nouveau-Brunswick \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Michael Bryant, directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019ACLC.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Mais nous pensons finalement que cette affaire finira devant les tribunaux, afin de garantir un acc\u00e8s \u00e9quitable \u00e0 des avortements s\u00fbrs et l\u00e9gaux au Nouveau-Brunswick. \u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab Les restrictions impos\u00e9es par le Nouveau-Brunswick en mati\u00e8re d\u2019avortement sont insidieuses et font subir des difficult\u00e9s excessives aux femmes, aux jeunes filles et aux personnes transgenres. Seuls trois h\u00f4pitaux du Nouveau-Brunswick sont autoris\u00e9s \u00e0 pratiquer des avortements. Ces trois h\u00f4pitaux \u00e9tant situ\u00e9s dans deux villes, 90 % des N\u00e9o-Brunswickois n\u2019ont pas acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des services d\u2019avortement ad\u00e9quats dans leur communaut\u00e9 locale \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Noa Mendelsohn Aviv, directrice du programme \u00c9galit\u00e9 de l\u2019ACLC.<\/p>\n

La Clinique 554, un cabinet de m\u00e9decine familiale qui est \u00e9galement le seul \u00e9tablissement pratiquant des avortements chirurgicaux \u00e0 Fredericton, ferme ses portes en raison de la d\u00e9cision de la province d’exclure les avortements pratiqu\u00e9s hors milieu hospitalier de la couverture d’assurance.<\/p>\n

Si le gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick ne parvient pas \u00e0 lever ses restrictions en mati\u00e8re d’avortement et \u00e0 garantir l’acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l’avortement, l’ACLC engagera une action en justice afin de garantir la justice reproductive dans la province et de prot\u00e9ger les droits constitutionnels des femmes, des filles et des personnes transgenres.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Les services d\u2019avortement constituent des soins de sant\u00e9 essentiels, et l\u2019incapacit\u00e9 persistante de la province \u00e0 en am\u00e9liorer l\u2019acc\u00e8s a impos\u00e9 un fardeau incommensurable aux personnes vuln\u00e9rables. Nous poursuivons le combat du Dr Morgentaler et sommes d\u00e9termin\u00e9s \u00e0 aller jusqu\u2019au bout \u00bb, a conclu Mendelsohn Aviv.<\/p>\n
